Team Manitoba was formally called the High Performance Program and has been changed to Team Manitoba going forward. This new name better reflects the collaborative and unifying nature of the program as an attempt to grow Manitoba players to excel on the National stage. It is comprised of Manitoba’s top provincially and nationally competitive athletes. A1 is our oldest and highest achieving athletes who will compete in Jr & U23 National Championships, National Championships, Provincial Championships and International Tournaments. A2 is our younger group of athletes who will likely be competing in the Jr National Championships and Provincial Championships, and who we hope to be competing for Team Canada in the future. These athletes are dedicated to their badminton training both on and off the court.
The Manitoba Badminton Team Manitoba Program is designed to provide our athletes with opportunities to receive the training, support and experiences they need to excel in National and International competitions. The intent of this program is to support our nationally competitive athletes to continue their competitive aspirations and represent Manitoba in Inter-Provincial competitions as well as help the rest of the team in their development. Athletes in Team Manitoba are expected to be positive role models within the Badminton Community and represent the Manitoba Badminton Association to the best of their abilities at events throughout Canada.
Team Manitoba is an extension of a player’s club program. Players involved in the program are expected to continue to play and train in their club environment.
The goal of the Team Manitoba is to continually improve the quality of the participants’ experience and improve the results of our athletes and teams at the National Championships, Canada Winter Games, Western Canada Summer Games and International Competition.
