SPRING TOURNAMENT UPDATES
A busy stretch of tournaments in the province is still on the schedule.
There have been some important changes to some of these events so we wanted to highlight those changes

2025 Yonex Provincial B&C Championship
This event is taking place April 12-13th. It was scheduled to take place at the Rady JCC but venue availability has changed so this event will now be at C1|DK. This event has sponsorship from Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries to expand prizes and food.
2025 Yonex C1|DK Easter Open – our newest facility and club have added this event (April 18-20)
2025 Yonex MBA Doubles Classic
This is the first year for this new event. With support from the Sport Event Hosting fund from the Provincial Government the MBA is excited to offer an event in a shorter format. With additional support from the Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries sponsorship we are excited to offer a price subsidized event with expanded prizes. This event is taking place April 26th at C1|DK.
2025 MHSAA Provincial Championship
This is the annual High School Provincial event run by the Manitoba High School Athletic Association. It takes place May 1-3 at the Sport For Life Centre.
2025 Manitoba Provincial Seniors & Masters
This event is being hosted in Selkirk due to venue availbility and conflicts with the MHSAA events the tournament is now being held on May 10-11
2025 Manitoba Yonex Provincial Senior Championships
This event (May 23-25) will also feature the annual adult players banquet and awards. We are excited for the support from the Manitoba Liqour & Lotteries sponsorship to be able to provide a subsidized dinner and party as well as expanded prizes. Important to note this event is now being hosted by Prairie Badminton.
U of M Badminton Club
The "Beginning of Summer" tournament is taking place at the university May 30 to June 1
A "End of Summer" event will also take place August 1-3

Players will be considered “A” players if any of the following apply:
- Participated in an Open or Junior National or higher level Tournament in the current or previous MBA Membership season. This includes Junior National Championships, National Championships (Open) as well as any tournament that is part of the Junior Elite or Senior Elite circuit. This does not include National or International Masters Competitions.
- Reached a semi-final in Provincial Championships, Herb Richard Manitoba Open or any other 1.0 tier tournament in Manitoba in the current or previous MBA Membership season.
The above criteria are exclusively applicable to specific events in the “A” division. For example, a player who makes an “A” semi-final in Women’s Doubles at Provincial Championships is not excluded from participating in Women’s Singles or Mixed Doubles.
In the case of doubles and mixed doubles, a team is only ineligible if both players are “A” players according to the above-mentioned criteria. In other words, an “A” player according to the above mentioned criteria may play in B&C Championships if he or she registers with a non-“A”-player.
An “A” player whose exclusion is due to participation in an Open or Junior National Tournament may only register to play in B&C Championships in Mens/Ladies Doubles and Mixed Doubles, and only if he or she registers with a non-A player.
Players must be at least fifteen (15) years of age at the start of the tournament.
Fees:
$58.00+GST = $60.90 Base fee plus $10+GST = $71.40 for 1 or 2 extra events.

2026 Manitoba Winter Games Update
January 1, 2025
The 2026 Manitoba Winter Games are taking place March 1 – 7 in Thompson, Manitoba.

Each region (North, West, Winnipeg (2 teams), East and South) will have a leadership group (Head Coach and Manager).
