Marj Niemi is the program coordinator and head coach of the LDB Badminton Club.  Marj is a level 2 technical certified coach and a Nationally Certified Umpire with Badminton Canada.  Marj was coach for Team Eastman at the 2010 Power Smart Manitoba Winter Games, and the Manager at the 2014 Power Smart Manitoba Winter Games, where a few of the athletes from her club brought home a medal!  Marj attended the coach seminar with Coaching Manitoba last September and has been to a few other coaching seminars with Badminton Manitoba. Marj really enjoys playing the game as well and was the female recipient of the Sportsmanship Award at Badminton Manitoba Awards Banquet in 2012.

The club is one of the most active clubs in Rural Manitoba.  Marj is the co-chair of the Eastman Open Badminton Tournament, which was the first active sanctioned tournament in Rural Manitoba that was part of the "Rural Super Series" by Badminton Manitoba.  Her and Mike from Whitemouth Badminton Club have adopted this tournament which brings the high calibre organization of a badminton tournament to the region of Eastman and gives locals a more comfortable chance to compete amongst themselves before diving into the Winnipeg tournament scene.

Kids, Teenagers, Adults and Seniors are all welcome at the LDB Badminton Club.  For more information on the Lac du Bonnet Badminton Club contact Doug Niemi at (204) 345-8378 or by email at [email protected].
