All participants must have a current MBA Membership. Memberships can be purchased for $20 during the check out process.
No late entries will be accepted for any reason.
Events/Age Categories:
U13 - BS & GS
U15/U17/U19 - BS/GS/BD/GD/XD
Age Eligibility: "Must be under the designated age for the entirety of 2015 in order to play in that particular age category". For example, a player must be 14 years of age or less on December 31, 2015 in order to participate in U15 age category.

The Manitoba Junior Open was re-named the "Pal Chawla" following the retirement of the Winnipeg Winter Club Badminton Professional, Pal Chawla, after 44 years of service. Pal started off his playing career as a teenager in Indian, where he picked up the sport casually one summer and realized he had some potential. Pal eventually went on to play for Team India winning several international competitions and was making his way up in the World Ranking. One extremely hot day however ended his international competing career when he came down with a severe case of heat stroke. Unable to pick up where he left off, he took up coaching and moved to Manitoba where he would find a few jobs before settling at the Winnipeg Winter Club.
Pal and his family have been critical to the development of badminton in Manitoba for over 40 years and he can still be seen around the Winter Club, chatting with members, doing his workouts and watching some badminton.

Additional Tickets may be purchased at $20.00 each.
Other Information:
Shuttles: Yonex Feather Shuttles will be used. Shuttles will be pre-tested and pre-tipped. If you have problems with the shuttle, you may inquire for a new shuttle or shuttle speed with the referee.
Refund Policy: Badminton Manitoba does not permit refunds of MBA Memberships or Tournament Registration Fees.
Availability: Participants must be available to play during the entirety of the events that they are registered for. MBA will not accept special requests for time, for any reason. All participants must be prepared to play during finals on Sunday in order to receive their prize.
The Tournament will enforce a strict 10 minute disqualification rule and 3-minute warm-up rule.
Clothing: Participants must have a change of clothing and non-marking indoor athletic shoes
Equipment: Participants must bring their own racquets

Draws: Draws will be posted on Wednesday, March 18 at 12:00pm (noon).
Schedule:
Singles: Thursday, Friday & Sunday
Doubles: Saturday Morning/Afternoon & Sunday
Mixed Doubles: Saturday Afternoon/Evening & Sunday
All finals will be played on Sunday starting at 10:00am
DONATIONS REQUIRED
The Junior Committee is asking for your donations to the junior banquet in order to provide prizes at the end of the evening to reward all the players for their hard work all season! If you have any new games, dvd's, cd's, sports equipment, badminton equipment, or other donatable goods, you can drop them off with Crystal Chen, Allen Tantakoun, Jesslyn Tan, Justin Friesen or Ryan Giesbrecht. You can also drop them off at the Winnipeg Winter Club.
