We fondly remember Russell Unilowsky, a dear friend of the local badminton community.
Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday December 14th at 9:30 am at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 115 McGregor St., Winnipeg. MB.
Russell Unilowsky, owner of Canadian Tire Garden City, was an avid badminton player and ambassador for the sport, sponsoring many tournaments through the 2000's and 2010's. He passed away suddenly in a car accident on Nov 7, 2019.
He was known as a passionate player on the court and a gentle and soft spoken giant off the court, and was a dear friend to many in the community. When he wasn't managing his store he also spent lots of time on the track, on the baseball diamond, with his band (Russell Lee Band), and with his family. His wife Oksana gave birth to their son Christian Russell Unilowsky 10 days after his passing. He also leaves behind 4 other children (plus spouses) and 11 great grandchildren.
