Arnish Patel Representing Canada at the Pan Am Junior Championships!

Under 19 Manitoba Junior Provincial Champion Arnish Patel will be representing Canada at the Pan American Games in Markham, Ontario from July 19-28, 2017. Arnish has been selected for the Under 19 Boys Singles Category and will be competing alongside 6 other canadian athletes.

Arnish Patel has been playing badminton for 8 years and for the last five years training competetively with Manitoba's High Performance team and also at the WWC.

He has had the opportunity to train with many knowledgeable coaches throughout the years including Archie, Pal, & Sean Chawla, Anil Kaul, Justin Friesen and Ryan Giesbrecht.

In his career he has competed in many provincial and national level tournaments. Some of his major achievements include Manitoba Junior Open and Closed championships, Silver medallist at the Pairie Junior Elite and Gold medallist at the Alberta Junior Elite in U19 Boys Singles. He has earned bronze in Boys Doubles at the Pairie Junior Elite with doubles partner Ivan Tsang and another bronze at the Alberta Junior Elite with mixed partner Cara De Belle. Furthermore he has participated in open tournaments such as the WWC Open, Manitoba Closed, Herb Richard MB Open and the Senior Nationals. Arnish has represented Manitoba at Western Canadian Team Championships for the last 3 years, helping Manitoba earn 2 Bronze Medals and 1 Silver Medal, and Western Canada Summer Games in 2015 where he contributed to earning another bronze for Team Toba.  Recently, he finished Quarter Finalist in all three events at the Canadian Junior U19 Championships.

Based on his performance in the previous national level tournaments, he has been invited to be a part of the Junior National Team and given an opportunity to compete in the upcoming Pan American Games in Markham, Onatrio. The Games are held on July 19-28 and Arnish will be competing in the individual U19 boys singles category from July 23-28. In preparation for the Games he will be attending the national high performance camp being held in Toronto, Ontario. In the camp , Arnish will be training alongside many national and international athelets under the supervision of national coach Mike Butler. This will be his very first international tournament and he excited to represent Canada and be part of the Junior National Team for the 2017-18 season!
