Strong Manitoban Showing at Canada Open

The 2016 Yonex Canada Open will be taking place at the Winsport Centre in Calgary from June 28th-July 3rd!

 

Cbc Sports will be livestreaming the semi-finals and finals on their website. Livestreams start at 2:00 pm on

Saturday July 2nd and Sunday July 3rd. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/broadcast

Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for Manitoba's very own Kevin Barkman (Left) and Kyle Grymonpre (Right) who will be competing in Men's singles and Men's doubles this week. 

 

 

 

The event will also host a couple Manitoban Umpires, notably Marj Niemi (Left) from Lac-de-Bonnet and Provincial Coach Justin Friesen (Right).

 

  

 

 

Many other Canadians will take part in the prestigious tournament, including the 2014 & 2015 Canada Open Champion Michelle Li (Left), former olympians Toby Ng (Middle) and future 2016 Olympian Martin Giuffre (right) and a handful of previous junior and senior national champions, including Nyl Yakura, B.R Sankeerth, Jason Ho-Shue, Phyllis Chan and Kyleigh O'Donoghue. 

 

  

 

The event will also host some of the world's top players from around the globe.

Some notable male singles players are: Semi-finalist at the 2012 Olympics Lee Hyun Il from Korea (Left)Semi-finalist at the 2013 World Championships Tien Minh Nguyen from Vietnam (Right) and Quarter-finalist at the 2011 World Championships Kevin Cordon from Guatemala.
