Olivia Meier Wins Gold at Parapan American Games in Peru

Olivia Meier from WWC recently competed in both the World Para Badminton Championships and the Parapan American Games.

Meier was chosen to represent Canada at the World Championships in St. Jakobshalle Basel, Switzerland.

She competed in singles in the SL4 class winning one of her three matches.

She also competed in Mixed Doubles with her partner Pascal LaPointe where they finished the round robin with a record of 2 and 1. They went on to compete in the playoffs but lost in the first round.

 

After the world championships were finished, Meier headed to Lima, Peru where she competed in the Parapan American Games.

She competed in the Singles SU5 losing only one match to the gold medal winner Almeida to finish second overall. 

In Mixed Doubles Meier and LaPointe had a near perfect record losing only one game in a 3 game match in the entire tournament capturing the Gold Medal.

 

 

In addition Olivia has been chosen to receive the Petro Canada FACE grant.
